This thread contains feedback or suggestions that were implemented on the ROFLMAO forum.
I agree. But are you suggesting that we accomodate it in one of the existing forums or create a new one?

Just for your information, I think a new forum with topic tags will do justice :D
I am suggesting we accommodate in the existing forums. We don't want forums that might not attract a lot of activities.

But where do I put all these in - swimming, electronics, cars, bird watching - dont tell me that it should be kept in the dumping ground.
If we create forums for a lot of topics, we will end up with a lot of forums with fewer posts. We can accommodate everything in Dumping Ground with prefixes like hobby, art, literature etc. I have been on a lot of forums where they had forums for a lot of topics and these forums did not have a lot of activities.

It might be true from a staff perspective because its easy to keep tabs on all the topics and everything else.

However, as an ordinary member, the dumping ground is too much cluttered and not having all these well organised, it is difficult to make any sense of how the dumping ground is classifying things. Additionally, the font is too small that reading through the tag itself is a hassle.

Just my two cents in. I will leave the issue there.

After going over this thread, I think a new forum, "Passions & Pastimes" under Real Discussions, has merit.

Topics can be organized with prefixes, and so far, I've collected these from this thread:
  • travel
  • cars
  • art
  • literature
  • electronics
  • photography
  • cooking
  • other
Of course, I'm open to different topics for prefixes to help with sorting threads in Passions & Pasttimes, so it's not solid yet, and I'm still looking for feedback on the most popular hobbies everyone here currently has.

The Dumping Ground will stay the "off-topic zone", as it should, until there are enough discussions to justify creating a new forum or prefix for moving them elsewhere. Once a suitable forum exists, these threads can be filtered and moved accordingly.

This will be a priority of mine tomorrow and throughout the week unless we can settle on 5-10 prefixes to get it going sooner (with one of them as "other").

Additionally, the font is too small that reading through the tag itself is a hassle.

This is also a pain point that I have. I wear glasses, and the font is still too small for me, so I have my screen zoom up on my phone, whereas I don't necessarily need it on my desktop. I need to find a happy medium where the font is a bit larger so that things such as prefixes and tags can be read without distorting the page display.

Having said that, could you create another thread in the forum below about font sizes as a reminder to put on the to-do list? Screenshots would be helpful from any devices as well. It might even come down to needing a completely new style (as to not get too technical, the padding is all over the place here)...

Thanks all!

We're still waiting for more feedback on hobby prefixes, but unless additional suggestions come in, the above changes will take effect by this Sunday.

We're always open to future adjustments, but we'd like to finalize as much as possible in the first implementation.

Passions & Pastimes has been introduced as a new forum for discussions on travel, cars, art, literature, photography, cooking, the outdoors, and more.

While electronics is a common hobby, those discussions should continue in Bits & Bytes, where a dedicated prefix ("electronics") has been added to better organize tech-related topics.
