How do you feel about the software? What mods and themes do you like? How would you compare it to other software?

My take is that is excellent, but the problem is the alerts system. The alerts system has to be added separately, but it used to work, now it's very difficult to use. The alerts system (MyAlerts) is very vital for a forum, so I have bypassed MyBB for phpBB.

I went to MyBB after phpBB and loved it. However, as mobile use began to increase, their responsive and mobile features didn't evolve. So I went to something else.

The mobile stuff can be changed with a theme.

Yeah but if it's not mobile out of the box, it's not modern.

MyBB isn't active like they used to be. It's a shame, too. I feel like they could be one of the best, if not the best, free software out there.

They could also keep a free lite version and get into the paid software niche or even offer downloads for free and cloud service for premium. Most of these free software providers should be jumping on the cloud service ideas!

There is some irony in this statement:

Back when I used MyBB, I suggested they add a feature where people can upgrade their membership through PayPal. A developer told me that feature would never be implemented as if I was suggesting something really awful.

I guess it sucks when no one can donate to them like they didn't want us to do.

I would pay a programmer to make it mobile ready, and especially, fix MyAlerts. That's the least I would do

Mybb is also a very popular free forum software and it is also widely used but I haven't used it before. I learned that it also has diverse customization options but I observe that many users complained about its alert system. That's a big drawback.

Until recently I was running MyBB. I went to MyBB after phpBB and I really liked it as it was easier to work compared to phpBB. The only issue with the software is mobile responsiveness. It does not adapt well on hand held screen

The support at the site seems mostly dead, but I could be wrong. I wonder if someone would help for free (or even paid) on the Alerts situation.

I never liked MyBB.

I dont know if its the theme, but something about the software makes it very inferior to phpBB. I have always been a fan of phpBB despite the complexities of the software.

Further, the support system in MyBB has largely been dead. Its difficult to find support in other forums too.
