Despite being at their top performance, many of the world's top athletes have never taken home a championship or even come close to winning one.

Despite being an excellent basketball player, Charles Barkley never took home a title. In soccer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has never won UEFA Champions League trophy.

I have seen numerous athletes competed in their respective sports, made records, and impacted the public, yet they were incredibly unlucky to take home major titles.

Ronaldo, despite being a great footballer has not won World Cup and I do not thinnk he will be able to do it because he might be too old to play in the next world cup

Cristiano Ronaldo is definitely old. He's most likely still going to play in the next upcoming World Cup because according to him, he's not ready to retire yet. But the question is if his team Portugal have what it takes to win the next World Cup tournament? I'm not so sure about it.

Somebody else mentioned that Harry Kane has never won a major trophy. That's a pretty big one.

The other one that comes to mind is Steven Gerrard for Liverpool, who managed to win everything with them except the Premier League. Famously, he slipped up in a crucial game against Chelsea when Liverpool were at the top of the league and looked odds-on to win it, the slip led to Chelsea scoring, ultimately winning the game, and Liverpool's title challenge for the season beginning a slow collapse.

It was a very bad day for Liverpool that say and it was against Chelsea. If I was Steven Gerrard, I would have jump and dived on BA before he entered the 18 yard box.

I replay it in my head constantly and imagine what I'd do if I was SG.

I eventually decided that I'd probably stumble forward and "trip" into DB's path, bringing him down and hoping my con did the referee and he only booked me thinking I'd genuinely tripped and so not intentionally fouled.

That's the benefit of hindsight though... it's taken me nearly 10 years to think of that! :ROFLMAO: These professional athletes have fractions of a second to make these kinds of decisions, weighing the implications not just for the game but the season as a whole... I'm pretty sure I've seen an interview somewhere where Gerrard admits he wishes he just rugby tackled him and went for an early bath.

Not everyone is lucky to win a title and there are athletes that are not so good but have won many titles in team sports. If you talk about cricket then players like Virat Kohli never won a title on their own for their franchise.

The slip happened at almost the end of first half in the match. Steven Gerrard probably believed they have the time to get back in the game during second half. Unfortunately, they couldn't even score any goals in the second half as Chelsea ended up winning the match 2-0.

The first half goal changed everything for Chelsea in the match.

Eh, I get what you're saying, but I'm still not convinced. I'm pretty sure most footballers nowadays in the same situation would take the red card in this situation, even being just before half-time. With the title situation as it was and so on... one of Stevie G's very few errors in an otherwise amazing career though.

Yeah, it's something that I would have done too in that situation - taking him out with extreme prejudice. Unfortunately, Steven Gerrard didn't calculate well and BA ran away from him.

I can't think of anyone other than Antonio Di Natalie. Man was a prolific goalscorer. Spent his entire career in Udinese when he should have moved to other bigger teams to win a trophy. And ultimately was among the first five too scorers every season but didn't have any silverware to show.
