A parent will have to be firm on declining financial help for their adult children. Although, it's hard but it's necessary. I am sure in the well-being of my kids and there are supportive means to help them in a time of crisis rather than permit them to develop the habit of dependency.

I watch my children taking ownership of their finances to develop their problem solving skills, and in this way, they grow more independent.

I believe the decline of financial help has its merit, however, one should never forget to get the full story before denying the request. If my child were facing a true-life crisis, like a medical emergency or a job loss, I would not be heartless about helping out for a month or so.
