off-topic What's the weirdest thing you ate?

For threads discussing subjects unrelated to the main forum topics.
Octopus would be that weird sea food which I ate knowingly just to have an experience of what it tastes like
I love octopus and squid, sushi, or raw, though.

The weirdest would probably be squid-ink pasta, where squid ink is used in the pasta and makes it look black. It doesn't taste as good as squid...

For me, the weirdest thing I've ever eaten is Snake. Yes, you heard me right! I cook and add some sources to it. It was so delicious. But I haven't eaten it again after that time. That was really somewhat off to put in the mouth.
I had snake meat once and I never knew it was snake meat until I was told. Honestly, I thought it was a fish because they taste almost the same.

For the fact that I hate snakes was the turn off for me. It turns my stomach whenever I remember it.

Snail!
In my home country, there is an indigenous community that search for snails in the rice field. They boil it, clean it and then make a soup. It tastes good.

That's interesting. For me, snail is never a weird food. We eat it here everyday. The weird food i ate it was a fried snake. I got to taste those while in a remote area for my holidays and it was so delicious. It was for sure fun and I was very pleased that I was able to be so bold as to try it out.

To me, I ate fried cockroach and grasshopper when I went to Thailand.

Though it might sound horrible, all their organs and internals were removed and only the hard shell was eaten, which tastes like flavoured rice crackers.

I also read that even the World Health Organisation recommends eating insect protein since the other resources are in the. brink of extinction due to overexploitation. No idea if its true or not!

Grasshoppers and beetles in Thailand. Also chicken feet. It may be normal for some, but for me it was an experience.
That's adventurous eating. Of course, I’ve eaten something horrible as well. I don't want to mention it here 😂. It's just in the process of experimenting different things. But I perfectly enjoyed them and it's totally a new way of experiencing things.
