There is a TV drama in my country that lasted 10 years and it ended only when the administration was changed and the said TV channel was ordered to close by the Supreme Court. ABS-CBN failed to pay taxes for 8 years. So the show " Ang Probinsyano; ended .
Would "Ang Probinsyano" have ended if ABS-CBN's franchise was renewed?
It was not renewed, however, ABS-CBN showed their shows in GMA and TV 5. The TV show that will be presented on GMA Tv 12 will be the Reality Show " PINOY BIG BROTHER."

I’d say either Grey’s anatomy or Law and Order. They’ve been both on air for over 20 years.
All my children is another one. It’s been around for about 30 years or so.
CID is iconic, but Law & Order reigns longest in crime dramas.
You are indeed, mistaken, friend. 'Blue Peter' is the longest, first airing in October 1958.
How could I forget Blue Peter! I used to watch that all the time when I was younger and remember my mum telling me that she used to watch it too
I completely forget it was still airing as I no longer watch it and my kids don't either now so it completely skipped my mind
Watching a TV that show that seems enteral is also boring. I want a short show that would last only one month not 15 years 
Ironically, my cousin Peter was also born in October 1958! Unlike the programme though, his tenure was short, dying of cancer in May 1979 at the age of 20.
That’s heartbreaking. Peter’s time was short, but his memory surely lives on.
It certainly does, Deep. I ran the British charity Cancer Research's Race For Life in his memory in honour of what would have been his 40th year and I have his watch.

I am not sure if its a term coined by my countrymen or not, but here, we call them 'mega serials'. There are serials which ran to 1000+ episodes. Who in their right mind whould be so dedicated to watch all this bullshit things, I donot know.

The longest running TV show in India is Krishi Darshan with over 16,780 episodes. It was about an agricultural program, started in 1967 and had about 57 episodes! It was then aired in the free national channel call the DOOR DARSHAN or DD.
