Legal scholars will have to interpret the Constitution on this and it would probably have to go to the Supreme Court before any action can be taken.
But, what's your take on Joe Biden using the autopen for his last-minute pardons?
In a digital era, we can all stamp our signature on a document and send it off. Most companies take it, even some government agencies.
However, in one instance waiting 4-months for my medical records, using an electronic signature on a release form (designed to look like pen strokes on purpose), it was kicked back from a government agency because it wasn't a wet ink signature. Now, I have to wait 4 months just to get back to the verification stage, and probably won't have access to my own personal medical records for another 3 to 6 months after that.
Why can a pardon be issued with an autopen, but requesting personal medical records not?
