Reddit is one of the largest websites on the internet now and is the reason why some forums are no longer active, but why do you think that is?
The discussion between people with similar interest without external influence is without a doubt one of the main reasons that make Reddit popular. Many years ago, Reddit wanted to introduce a new feature, however, the community did not approve the idea, so it was never implemented. Reddit community is pretty in control of the platform, this makes Reddit very popular.
There was also a point in time where the Reddit owners used multiple fake accounts to boast their platform.May be the voting system because of voting quality content comes to top of page
These days, with the site’s users wary of people using expendable accounts to try to seed their own content (and, like other sites, Reddit shadowbans users), it seems nuts that an army of fakers would be seeding content all over the site, the wealth of parody accounts on Reddit notwithstanding. But early on, Huffman said that using fake accounts driven by the founders was key to building the tone they wanted to the site. Basically, by populating the site with accounts whose strings they pulled, the Reddit crew could shape the discourse and sharing of the site in the direction they wanted, and as the real user base grew, those standards held, allowing the fake accounts to fade away.
I believe you nailed it. simplicity and convenience are precisely what make it so very popular. Another thing we need to know is that Reddit is a very simple platform as well as the fact that it is based on the concept of content sharing and this made it convenient for individuals to share content with so much ease.I believe it's because of its simplicity and conviniance. Everyone can make their own community, and people will post things they like there, comment on it and that's it. It's a different type of forum, but it shares the concept of it. What I dislike there is having hard time to browse posts. I have to scroll until the end of time to get to the first "post" in the community.
