What New Opportunities Streaming Services Have Brought Into the Lives of Filmmakers? This shift in trend has completely changed the way the traditional film industry used to work. What are the benefits and disadvantages of such change? What has the emergence of the streaming services done to the nature of films produced?

Well, in my candid opinion, the streaming services have liberalized the field of filmmaking and it brings new chances to indie filmmakers too. However, this shift has also been associated with what I will term as an over-supply of content. On a more serious note, I’m worried about the future of film experiences.

Almost everyone agree that streaming services have changed the game when it comes to finding an audience as a filmmaker. They have initiated new ways of marketing and sourcing for funds. But, what I don’t like about them is the focus on money more than quality.

I think the impact is manifold. But these two cannot be under estimated -

1. They have made film financing very democratic. Now, you can produce a film without much high budget. OTTs and Live streaming agencies are happy to pay a bountiful if they have exclusive rights.

2. Producers have additional incentive to build a good movie because now, they are guaranteed by three forms of financial opportunities which include - theatre rights, satellite rights and OTT rights.
