Trevor Noah is set to host the 2025 Grammy Awards, airing live from Los Angeles on February 2. The announcement came less than two weeks before the ceremony, a later confirmation than in past years. Despite regional wildfires, the event will proceed as planned, doubling as a fundraiser for relief efforts.
Kind of cool that the Grammys are using their platform to help with wildfire recovery. Do you think they’ll raise significant funds?
The Recording Academy will donate $1 million and has already raised over $2 million for emergency aid. CEO Harvey Mason Jr. expressed grief over recent devastation, vowing ongoing support to those affected. The telecast will honor first responders and celebrate the bravery of those battling the fires.
Glad they’re shining a spotlight on first responders. They deserve all the recognition they can get.
In addition to the main show, the Clive Davis pre-Grammy gala and MusiCares Person of the Year event, honoring The Grateful Dead, will continue. However, major labels and Spotify have canceled their usual pre-Grammy parties out of respect for the ongoing crisis.
Noah, who’s hosted the Grammys multiple times, says the backstage moments make the job special. “You’re walking around and seeing Billie Eilish having a moment with another artist. You don’t get to see that anywhere else,” he shared.
That must be such a surreal experience for him every year. Imagine casually running into Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift chatting!
The 2025 Grammy nominees are led by Beyoncé with 11 nods, followed by Charli XCX and Post Malone with eight each. Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish have seven nominations, while Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan follow with six.
Looks like another big year for Beyoncé! Who do you think will sweep the awards this time?
