My computer is very slow and I want to upgrade. I have heard a lot of things about the SSD and HDD and I'm confused on the one to pick between the two. I visited a platform to search for some information about them, but the information was overwhelming. I don't seem to understand anything. A friend told me that SSDs are fast and that HDDs have more space.

Which one would you recommend for me?

If you have an older computer, the best upgrade you can do is switching to an SSD. Their faster speeds will make the machine feel new.

As a general rule, I use SSDs for anything I need access to quickly like programs, games and some work files and the HDDs for what I need to put in "storage" like movies and music.

Start with a 500GB NVMe SSD if you can, but the SATA ones are also quite fast these days. Then you can spring for a 2TB SSD or a large-capacity HHD if you need to store large files.

SSDs are much better than HDDs. They last longer, and are much faster. They're more stable and sturdy than HDDs, if you drop a HDD you can damage it and lose your data.

SSDs are certainly better than HDD in speed, performance, and durability. SSD also consumes less energy.
SSDs are superior to HDD in many ways. They are faster, work better and most of them have a longer life span. The SSDs also require less power, and this assist in laptops to have a longer durability.

Or perhaps, never used SSD and does not know how it performs.
Honestly, SSD's have been out for over 40 years. If you haven't used SSD's by now then I'm not sure what kind of garbage someone buys. Most computers, even very basic ones, are equipped with SDD's from the factory for at least 10 years now.

In the developing world, a large percentage of people use Chinese computers that still do not have SSD. :D

Purchasing an SSD is not affordable in many regions of the world today. Most people still employ HDDs owing to their relatively low cost and the amount of storage they can offer.
More storage for a low cost is certainly an advantage but performance wise HDD is certainly slow. Chinese manufacturer use HDD instead of SSD to keep the cost of computers low. Chinese computers are very popular in my region.

I can understand that the cost of the HDDs is lower but we should also consider some of the benefits of SSDs. They are flexible and its capability to load faster and respond faster makes it a better choice. Although HDDs would be enough for ordinary users and simple operations.
