Sports is business for some, livelihood for some, hobby for some. So the answer to my question may vary very much. But I still would love to know, along with the reasons - What are your spending limits when it comes to sports?

If you can include gym in sports spending, then probably I am spending less than 10% of my monthly income. This includes my gym fee, accessories and supplements. Other than that, I hardly spend any money.

What about you guys?

When I was heavy into bodybuilding, I would say that I was spending $750-1000 a month on just my daily food intake.

Supplements would run about $150, and "supplements" 😉😉 another $200+ (it would've been much higher if my health insurance didn't pay for me to blast and cruise because I have a low testosterone diagnosis)

The least expensive thing was my gym membership at about $30. However, the city I live in also has a free gym. So, to get different scenery, and change things up, maybe $10 more in gas.

The sky was the limit for spending when it came to bodybuilding as I was determined to become an IFBB Pro.

I'm not that big into bodybuilding anymore, just staying lean and fit and to still put on size. However, I can accomplish that with a much cheaper diet — not to the tune of an extra 25 kilograms in bodyweight though — and use free gyms. I only spend about $40 on protein bars for the month to ensure I hit my macros there, as I sometimes work so much I'll miss a meal.

I'm also slowly building a home gym. I have sets of 10#, 15#, 20#, and just bought 25# dumbbells this month, with the intention of getting 30# next month. I see the dumbbells as kind of an investment, obviously for my health, but financially speaking, too. If I ever die, there should be no reason why my wife couldn't get $1.75 per pound (in a lowball sale), or about $250 with what I have now.

Cycling is my sport and fitness.

I have three bikes that I use regularly.

Gravel Bike $3,800
Road Bike $3,500
Mountain Bike $600

I wear cycling kits that last (bib shorts and jersey) and usually spend around $300 to $500 per kit. I have around 20 kits.

With custom pedals, bike shoes, gloves, helmet, bags, and bike tools - I have another $2,000 invested.

I buy about $100 worth of gels, gummies, bars, and electrolyte tabs every three months.

But after getting the bikes, clothing, and accessories. I mainly just spend the money on the supplements and maintenance here and there.

Road Bike $3,500
One of my old bosses had a road bike and told me to pick it up with just my pinky. With skepticism that I couldn't by looking at it, I still gave it a go. I was able to lift it with my pinky, bending ever so slightly, without much tension to feel any pain.

He said, "That's what over $10,000 gets you."

I was like  ...as at that time, you could just about get a new car for that.

I told my husband that I have only one rule when it comes to money. Since I am the one that keeps up with the check book and pays the bills, I told him to save me enough money that the checks won't bounce. Leave enough money in the account that I can pay the bills and the necessities......whatever is left over at the end of the week or the month, I don't care if you spend that. Just let me pay for the stuff we have to have and you can spend the rest on whatever.

10,000$ for a bike?!!

That is too much :(

I understand that some sports equipment scan become too costly.Like what I suggested elsewhere, I think we should also have an insurance that protects us against theft, damage, wear and tear and disasters as far as these extremely expensive sporting equipments are concerned.

Just for the sake a curiosity, did you end uyp upgrading your bike after hearing it our from your boss?
