I was uninformed about this until about moments ago. It looks like I will be paying about $1 more per month for my Netflix subscription.

I had to do a Google search on this to see if it was regional or Netflix-wide, which it appears to be the latter.

How much is your bill increasing next month?

Hi,

Thank you for being a valued member since 2015. We hope you’re enjoying everything Netflix has to offer. We’re updating your monthly price to ¥1,590 on December 3rd, 2024.

Almost to my 10th year as a Netflix subscriber, and since joining at ¥599 or so, it's increased nearly yearly for a while, until around its current price. Yet, here we are, having yet another increase.

When will it become "unaffordable" for what they have to offer? 🤔

Man Netflix just keeps getting worse IMO. First they keep increasing their prices, then they make sharing difficult. I know there's free alternatives that have different movies, but of course those alternatives don't have everything. Of course there's other means to get things, if you catch my drift.

then they make sharing difficult
"Password sharing" (between myself essentially) has never been a problem, even when people were complaining about it.

I use Netflix Japan and Netflix US on two different TVs, with one that has a VPN on it. You would think that Netflix assumes that I'm sharing with someone in the US, or that I'm using a VPN (to access two different movie catalogs too) at the very least.

Otherwise, I'm just a very frequent international traveler with a Netflix Japan subscription which makes my overall price cheaper due to the region having a more favorable exchange rate. So, I can't really complain about the 100 yen increase as it's not $1, but about 66 cents.

That's a very interesting question. I think the competition is getting tougher, especially with Disney+, HBO Max, and others in the picture. This is why Netflix has to re-evaluate their value proposition. It's a question of Innovating their offerings. I also think the rising cost is due to inflation as well.

I have seen a lot of people develop cheats to share their favourite movies easily. I don't know how they do it but for me,.I don't think it's the best thing to do.

Currently, I am not subscribed to Netflix. Entertainment is becoming a costly. I think we need to switch to free entertainment like Toktok and youtube.

There's a very good friend of mine who doesn't pay for any streaming services as well. According to him, he's better off downloading them from several sites accessible to him. He makes use of o2tvseries to download most of the TV shows he desires to watch.

This was expected because Netflix is doing well from some time and have added few good shows and the biggest of the lot is acquiring rights to telecast WWE. I don't follow WWE but it's big and have a huge reach worldwide.

Their partnership is going to start on January 6th, so they’ll probably gain a lot more subscribers from WWE fans.
I wish they would do something like Netflix Basic + WWE Sports Package (so you could opt-out).

Otherwise,
Another way to squeeze more out the consumer.
This is essentially true, as all of us are going to have to pay more for stuff we really don't want.

it all started with the sharing accounts because corporations are stingy. Dont they get enough but they want more and more and more. Selfish Pricks.

Probably because of expats like me too.

I am in Japan, and pay Japan Netflix pricing (so it's like $10/month with the exchange rate). However, I have a dedicated TV that Netflix can only tell is "in the US" (it's behind a VPN). However, I'm certain they have to know that I'm swapping between the two (Japan Netflix/US Netflix) too often for it to not technically be password sharing, or they just chopped it up to me being such a frequent flyer. I don't think their system of logging user activity is that stupid to not recognize it, but hid the TV behind the VPN so that it couldn't be blocked from both if they decided to cut one or the other off and ban the device outright.

Yes, some streaming services, including Netflix, are raising their prices. I decided not to renew my subscription because it takes a long time for them to add new movies and TV series. I'd rather watch on LokLok. It is more convenient for me and the rates are more affordable than Netflix.

The price increase is a big deal. LokLok is quite suitable to be used as an alternative because it is cheaper and much more convenient. There are so many streaming platforms that are affordable now because there are lots of people out there searching for cheap streaming service and LokLok seem to be one of options that has been offered to people.

I dropped Netflix not long after they made it to where you couldn't link more than one account outside the zip code of the master. I didn't see it worth the cost to have my own, considering a lot of the content they were making wasn't worth the price hike in my opinion.

Netflix got me big time when I resubscribed recently. I saw that there was an option to pay £4.99 a month with ads so selected it... when I went to put Netflix on my TV, it said my TV wasn't compatible with the advert supported version of Netflix and I'd need to upgrade to the £10.99 a month package to watch. What an absolute scam really! :ROFLMAO: Quite clever though...

At present, Netflix's monthly subscription that provides the best picture quality then it will costs $7.6 and this is too much LOL.
