I believe true stories often make the best films. Let's take Pursuit of Happyness, for example, it is a great movie not because it has been well made and the actor has done a fantastic job, it is create because of the story, which is a true story. Do you like to watch movies based on true stories, what are your favorite movies based on real events?

Pursuit of Happyness
The Pursuit of Happyness was a fantastic story, but I don't think it would've done as well as it did without Will Smith as the lead, speaking strictly box-office numbers-wise ($55M budget with a worldwide box-office of $307M in 2006).

That isn't to say that there aren't other true stories with unknown actors that live up to the same expectations that that movie did.

A true story that sucks you in and makes you feel every emotion the characters are going through is what makes them good, and some true stories don't quite fully live up to that.

I love movies based on true stories. Actually, not only movies but series or games or anything that is based on true story fascinates me a lot.

Conjuring is my all time favorite. :D

The conjuring is really a real life story?
I have heard about this being a true story but I thought it was all talks and mostly rumors. I didn't really make any research about it.

Movies like ‘Hidden Figures’
I loved "Hidden Figures" There is so much to unpack within it, to racial segregation and relationships to how people can overcome adversity and how we can come together to achieve greatness. An overall 9.5/10 movie.

I see "Hidden Figures" and I raise you "Argo". In this movie, CIA agent Tony Mendez plans and pulls off a daring rescue of six American diplomats trapped in Iran during the 1979 Tehran hostage crisis. He does this by disguising them like a Canadian film crew scouting locations for a fake science fiction movie. How about that?

This is not peculiar to you . I love the stories that are happened in real life. It makes the film more engaging.

I’m a fan of movies that is based on real events. It’s more like history lessons
You are absolutely right and that is exactly what makes them impactful. I gained two things at a time. Watching movie and learning.

I also like movies based on true and real stories but the problem is they add extra spices and ingredients in the story to make it good and many times add unnecessary things and drama.

Black Hawk Down is one of my favorites. It was a true life story of what went down in 1993 known as the Battle of Mogadishu. The U.S. forces faced heavy resistance during a humanitarian mission in Somalia. It was constant shooting till the end of the movie.
I also agreed that the Black Hawk Down is an action packed movie and it's story that reveals how courageous the soldiers where during the down fall at Mogadishu. The movie is based on a true story.

"12 years a slave" was based on the historic account of a kidnapped African American that was later sold as slave. The film accurately depicted the experiences of slaves in the US.
I'm interested in watching this movie from what you've explained about the plot. Do you have any idea if it's available on Netflix or any other streaming service?

That's very true. I remember one particular movie called Bandit Queen, where the women whose life was portrayed in the movie objected on how her life was presented in the movie.

True story certainly makes a great movie but just because the movie is based on true events does not mean it will also be a great movie. The movie also needs impressive actors and the director needs to do a fantastic job
It is clearly proved that a true story can be fascinating but it is not sufficient to make good movies. The actors, acting and director are also very vital. They provide a way of making the real life experiences come out real and have a lot of meaning too.
