discuss Kids and babies introduction to using tech/smartphone?

During the time when I was a kid, I never had accces to smartphone or tablet or even any highly sophisticated tech products but all that have changed today. Kids and even babies are now given tablets and smartphone at a very young age to play video games and do other stuffs.

At what age were you allowed to start using tech products like smartphone, tablets and the rest?

There is nothing wrong in children gaining advantages from learning technology but the parents just need to establish proper boundaries for their screen-time exposure.

I didn't use a smartphone until I was in my year one in the university. Kids today have so much privileges that I never dreamt of having as kid. When I was a teenager, if I needed to do anything with the internet, I had to use the cyber cafe.

For me, I don't think it's proper to expose children to technology early. It should creates significant worries to the parents. Excessive use of screens would possibly results in addiction which is what we don't want happen.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. I started using a computer when I was pretty young.

As long as you set time limits with the kids and the smartphones, then they should be perfectly fine.

Especially use parental controls as well.

I honestly wish I had waited until 16.

I'm directly attributing my daughter's attention span, or lack thereof, to her smartphone use.

I think during our day it was more about productivity and less about consumption. You needed to really do something to get something, even if that was to find a video. Now, every piece of content is spoonfed to you, one piece right after another.

I got my first smartphone when I was in the university. My kid started watching videos on smartphone as young as 8 months. It was easier to feed him when he was shown videos on smartphone.
