discuss Is the Superbowl a joke?

A thread for live match analysis, player performances, scores, highlights, fan predictions, and general sports discussions across all sports.
I am not a huge Superbowl fan but I will admit that when the Superbowl is on, we do have it on as my eldest likes to watch it and I always like to catch the half-time show too which of late, has not been the greatest and has not been like it used to.

It does seem that the Superbowl has gotten a lot more political of late which is a shame to see when it comes to a sport.

I've not watched a Superbowl in years - more than a decade, probably.

To me, it's too commercial. It's too dramatic. It's even becoming too political.

I used to just watch it for the stupid commercials but now I don't watch TV anymore.

What do you all think about the Superbowl? Is it even worth watching anymore?
It's worth watching. The best two teams from the afc and nfc play against each other. So, generally if you love the NFL you'll enjoy the super bowl. Most people that aren't fans of football wouldn't enjoy the game.

The NFL dropped Colin years ago, it's not so political like it used to be. They play the game and go home. There isn't any hard hitting defense backs nomore though. They'll eject you from the game if you hit players too close to the chest or hips. You can't really hit someone close to the head anymore as it's an automatic ejection.

Football is becoming softer, but it's far from being too political. The superbowl isn't a joke, it's fantastic.

And the price for a ticket makes it so crazy. Is that the cost in order to pay team members their share or is it profit for a company?
High demand and limited supply drive the prices up. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, attracting millions of fans, yet only 60,000 to 70,000 seats are available. It's not just a game. it’s a major entertainment spectacle featuring halftime performances and celebrity appearances.

Many tickets are purchased by corporations for clients and employees, and a large percentage end up on the secondary market, where resellers drive prices even higher. The NFL sets high base prices, fully aware that both fans and businesses are willing to pay a premium.

As for how players and teams get paid, it varies. Players receive bonuses for participating in the Super Bowl, with winners earning more than the losing team. However, teams and owners benefit the most from TV deals, sponsorships, and merchandise sales.

It’s also worth noting that team owners typically use their revenue to pay free agents and cover player contracts. To get a clearer picture of a team's financials, you’d have to check their balance sheet to see how much they make and spend annually.
