discuss Is Esports a legitimate sport?

Esports is now a billion-dollar business, with players playing their games in arena-type venues and millions watching on their devices. But is it a 'real' sport? I'd say yes! It is challenging like traditional sports in terms of skill, strategy and physical/mental rigour. Esports is already here today and has become an important industry and this is why it deserves to be recognised. What’s your opinion on Esports being considered as a sport?

I would tend to agree.

Though, I'm sure if you strapped a heart rate monitor on them while playing, and consuming large amounts of caffeine, it might signal that they were partaking in a sport if you were unaware of who was strapped to it and when.

I have no issue with the assertion that Esports is a genuine sport. The amount of physical, technical and psychological commitment needed to compete at the highest level is not far from traditional sports. It is not all limited to hand–eye coordination and speed of response to various cues alone.

It's not a sport in so much as it doesn't involve exercise. But it is a sport in that it involves competition. Darts is another example. Anybody can play darts, it's not a physical game at all. Doesn't mean it's any less of a "sport" overall, though.

Some people say it is not a sports game because you don’t have to run across the yard or even make yourself sweaty. But it is still a skill that must be mastered. So, is esports a sport? Even though esports is not physically requiring players to be athletes, it is quite similar to traditional video games, and it is still competitive, requires skills and concentration. That is why professional esports players train and rehearse as many hours as regular sports performers practice in preparation for their games.

I dont think playing sports require anything physical in it mandatorily. For example, archery is a sport, but the person is largely standing at one place and is more static than any other sports.

E sports is also sports because we require team effort, skill, talent, focus and movement. Infact, there are even world cup like tournaments in e-sports. Its sports, just that the medium or platform has been changed.

All sports are good because they develop the body. Whether a subject is ideal or not depends on you. What you like and prefer is up to you. I do not think that anyone can help you but yourself. Think and make your decision.
