Experts often say a strong core is the key to maintaining good balance, but are there other factors that matter just as much, like posture or flexibility?

If you're working on your core, I don't see any reason why you would not reap the benefits of posture and flexibility, especially if you are lifting heavy.

Your posture might be thrown out of balance if you're doing too much chest over back, which gives you a hunched-over look, but that's not your core. Your core is still being worked in back and chest movements though.

If you're lifting heavy, you're stretching, so you're going to get flexibility. You might not get gymnastic-like flexibility, but you're going to have some flexibility as you need a full range of motion to get the most out of your workout, which is why you would stretch to get to that point.

And as far as the core goes, it's going to help you maintain posture. That said, you can have bad habits and throw posture out, so you should focus on it while building your core for an overall balance.
