game How Do You Feel About Microtransactions in Gaming?

For threads discussing games on PC, consoles, or other platforms.
Microtransactions should not be encouraged. Some games force one to use actual money to advance to the next level which is not right. Most of the players prefer to have an option rather than being compelled into doing something. Developers must be more truthful about what they do.
This is my biggest pet peeve with microtransactions in games.

It creates inequality with members, especially if it's a game where one member has to interact with another such as in battles, when someone can pay to be better while the other who doesn't have money has to play much longer to achieve the same stats.

We're on the same page! Microtransactions are definitely going to create an unfair advantage. It'll make games unappealing to those who do not have money to make purchases and that alone undermines the sense of achievement and the purpose of gaming in general.

Alot of games over do it, but a big part of why the games are free to play is because the developers want to make money off their games which is why theirs micro transactions in games.

Yes, I understand that they also need to make money but it should be done in fairness to all players. The truth is that most developers are not just transparent with whole thing. They want to make money by all means, thereby creating an unfair advantage.

I also disagree that players that buy upgrades should have a big advantage, and all paid upgrades you should be able to earn it for free. Maybe special characters for paid players, but no gameplay advantage.

That's exactly my point. Microtransactions ruined gameplay for those who can't make purchases. The ads won't let you enjoy the game. I played one recently and I was so frustrated.

I used to support microtransactions because I know developers must eat, and the main ways to monetize a game are to sell it, put a bunch of ads in it or use microtransactions.

However, my views shifted when microtransactions made games "pay to win" where you could only advance or succeed if you paid for something you need to progress in the game.

Now, they are just cash grabs and developers and publishers are not even hiding it anymore.

If you can play the game for free, I think you shouldn't mind about spending money on micro transactions. These days I no longer play free games but I have played a lot of free games in the past and I have spent money on microtransactions.
