Do you rely on bestseller lists, recommendations from friends, social media trends, or bookstore browsing? Have online algorithms helped you find great books, or do they limit your choices?
I dont really loo at Friends recommendations and all that.
What I do is - I use Amazon search. Based on the my previous purchases, it will know what is best for me! (Ha ha *Evil Laugh*)
I go for books that are at least more than 300 pages, well researched and has a extensive bibliography. I might sound strange, but it will make sense when I tell that I only read non-fiction.
I don't read new authors, I don't even know them. I only read popular ones. I do not even know the name of contemporary authors, except a few ones whose books have been made into movies, for instance Dan Brown or JK Rowling.
I have moved on from fiction to history in my reading habits. I think it's really important to read and understand what happened in the past and what brought is, as a species and society, to where we are.

I 'discover' books through active research. If I stumble on an interesting subject I will actively research books on the matter to increase my understanding of the issue.
