off-topic Exotic meat

For threads discussing subjects unrelated to the main forum topics.
I have had quite a big list - camel, crocodile, grasshopper, frog, tortoise, pigeon, porcupine and quail :D. Most of them I had when I was travelling to south east Asia.

And I still haven't tried horse meat or basashi (horse sashimi). I guess the most exotic, for me, is deer.

I did try crickets before, but they were in the form of a powder in a protein drink. I only took a sip cause the idea of it just weirded me out.

Peacock meat?

How does it taste? I always thought that they are meatless much and will be full of bones!

I have seen peacocks in streets and forests, but the idea of eating them has never crossed me.
Just like free range chickens, it grows in volume when cooked. They do have a lot of meat.

Peacock is out national bird, hence we attach a lot of cultural important to it.

That is also the reason why, given peacock, I would be a little hesitant (though you can push me into it, no big deal).

Just asking out of curiosity, is it lean meat? Or has it got lots of fat?

Cow is our national animal, and I will never eat beef. :D
It is illegal to eat peacock in India, right? Well, eating wild animals/birds is illegal here, so eating peacock illegal here.
It has lean meat. It good in pulao and soup.

In India, cow is a holy animal but not our national animal. The national animal is Tiger (and I dont think anyone would give us tiger meat)

However, I eat cow meant :D Also, I must add that even though we consider cow as a holy animal, India is perhaps one amongst the largest exporter of cow meat in the world.

What is more interesting is the Hindu Party that is in the government receives donation from the companies that exports beef. :D
Back to the subject, would you ever be interested in trying to eat any animal that is normally not your main meat animal

Yes. Infact I have tried too many exotic meat.

I would really try them out because we eat some types of meats not because they are not edible but because they are culturally not acceptable.

My next stop is to eat a dish made up of clotted goat blood :D
