game Do you sell your old consoles to buy new ones?

For threads discussing games on PC, consoles, or other platforms.
I keep all original boxes, manuals, etc. of electronics that I buy. If they're still in good shape when I'm done with them, I will repackage them and put them away in climate-controlled storage.

This goes for consoles as well.

Maybe one day when I'm gone and the locker is cracked open, they'll be worth much more in original packaging with slight use. Or, it's going to just create a trash day for the family. :-P

Nope I've never done this. My wife's parents used to do this when she was a kid though, she used to have a NES then they sold it for her genesis. Then they sold the genesis for her PS1, and then sold her PS1 for a PS2. I prefer to hold on to old consoles, emulation isn't as good with some consoles. The Genesis emulation isn't the same as a real Genesis, which is why I own four of them lol.

To be honest with you, this is a big question for collectors. It's either they become priceless or not tomorrow. Either way, it's always good to enjoy them now. What's priceless is passing on the memories to your family.

Whenever I upgrade, I make sure to sell my old consoles. It lets me pay for the new one.
I think I like your strategy. It's a smart one! Upgrading without breaking the bank sounds very cool to me. To offset the cost of the new console,. It's better to sell the old consoles to help offset the cost. It also helps to keep your gaming space well-organised.

I have never sold old console to buy a new one but I once sold my console to buy a gaming laptop but later I regretted my decision and ended up buying a new console

I sell consoled to buy new ones all the time. I also do this with things like computer graphics cards because there is always a market for those as long as hey are no more than a few generations old

No, in fact I do the opposite, I keep my old consoles as relics and I buy new consoles as much as I can, I like to collect consoles, I don't have many but I do have a few
That is a really a good idea. They may become very valuable in the future. I normally dispose of the old console when I buy a new one.

Years ago I used to sell my old consoles to buy the latest console but then I would regret not having the older console for my collection. Now I tend to save up to buy the latest consoles so that I can keep my older consoles.
