discuss Do casinos etc. promote a low-life culture?

This thread covers all aspects of ideologies, including beliefs, principles, traditions, policies, and their influence on society and culture.
I don't feel they do.

I work for a casino. I am a surveillance technician and investigator. We go out of the way to look for people who have gaming problems. We go out of the way to detect crime and fraud and prosecute when we find it.

We even catch cheaters. We go after advantage players, too, which isn't exactly cheating but prevents a fair game for other patrons who are not advantage players as well.

Casinos can become addictive. But phones, IMO are even worse because I bet you anything more people are dying and killing each other because of phones (driving, etc.) than what's being done in a casino.

My few cents.

I do support your view. Yesterday Ray william johnson a youtuber posted about two nuns who spent school money to gamble.
These nuns were really viewed as very moral upright people in their society and yet they chose to do this . This stripped them of their moral and social standing making them mere low lifes
