discuss Who owns an iPhone?

A thread covering the latest news on trends, groundbreaking technologies, and digital innovations reshaping the tech landscape.
True. I think a good idea would be going a step down the line and getting say, and iPhone 13 or 14 since they're a lot cheaper, and have most of the same features as the new ones.
Everybody is into their own luxury. For instance, I like pre-made ice coffee but it's not really worth $6 to $8 dollars a day.

$1000, is just shy of $2000, which can get you a decent used car. :D
What market can you get a decent used car for that price? Even in Japan, you're looking at around $5000 for a kei car (an engine displacement of 660cc or less), which is pretty much a gokart with a body.

As for me, I get the Samsung Galaxy flagship every 2 or 3 years. Right now, I am on the Galaxy S23 Ultra with 1TB storage.

I've contemplated the S25 because I have grown to dislike the curved screen of the S23. However, if I do it without purchasing the entire phone (around $1200-1500), I will have to change my phone plan to include payments for it in the plan. In doing so, I will lose out on my current plan, which has unlimited data. That wouldn't be so bad if I could get an unlimited data plan again, which I can, but the new plan is unlimited data with a Wi-Fi tethering cap of 25GB.

So, if I do get the S25 or S26, I will buy it outright to carry over my current plan because it's essentially home internet in my pocket. I don't think they quite thought through unlimited data at that time and how it could be used to replace someone's internet plan completely...

I wouldn't pay $1000 or more for an iPhone. I'd only pay 40 or 50 USD at Wal Mart for something else. Well, what is the advantage of an iPhone? They certainly are just as easy to lose, but maybe they last longer.
I have an iphone. I'm able to upgrade to a newer model for free with my plan, but it might cost me $15-$20 a month on my monthly bill if that. I don't upgrade unless my phone breaks. I've had my iPhone 13 for a couple of years now.

You can get one on Facebook marketplace if you look carefully.

There's not really a good secondary market for phones here. The price difference between new and used is slim, and as slim as it is being used, it'd be best to get it from a used store to at least get a 3-month warranty with it.

If I wanted an older iPhone, it would be within reason. But not for the last 3 models.

I have used an iPhone in the past a few times, and as much as I don't mind the phone or even iOS, I do much prefer Android over iOS. I also find that Apple tend to be quite pricey when it comes to their phones, and I am something who prefers to have a phone a little more within my budget, with Samsung, that is possible, which is why I stick with Android.

I am guilty to say this, but I recently got an iPhone 16 Plus, which was my first iPhone.

This is my overall experience about iPhone - i would never get another one again because I think its a waste of moeny. There is a brand image to it, true, but in exchange for all this money, I get a phone that is far inferior to similarly priced android phones.

I will change it probably in another two or three years.

I mean, cars, sorry.

I have a paid for iPhone 11 Max Pro. It's old. But it works and I will keep using it until either the camera quits working or the phone quits working.
This is exactly how I use my own smartphone too. If it doesn't break, I don't have any plans on changing it. It's why I'm still using my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Yep. It still works really well, and I've even dropped it in a lake!

If I pay $1,000 for something, I want to get every little bit out of it before it breaks down otherwise, you're cheating yourself.

It's not like I pluck money from the trees which would make me not care and be frugal with how I spend it.

I'm getting the last value in whatever I paid for.

I don't have an iPhone, never used it. I do not have the budget for an iPhone. My max budget for a phone is $350 and for this price I can get only Android phone. Even if I had money for an iPhone, I wouldn't by an iPhone, I would buy a budget Android phone and a laptop.
