discuss What’s the biggest forum that you’re a member of?

A thread covering the latest news on trends, groundbreaking technologies, and digital innovations reshaping the tech landscape.
It's a Serbian forum with 335.935 registered members, 46.032.310 posts and 736.709 threads. It used to be cool place until the post quality went really down by various trolls. For instance, you want to make a topic about love in relationship, and some horny people join in and ruin the emotional part of relationship by talking about hardcore sex.

Wow, that's a massive forum! This is rather unfortunate because real posts have been diluted with different kind of things. When the flow of meaningful conversations is disrupted, by either bad comments or comments that are irrelevant, then people feel irritated.

Yeah, more people you have, more trols you gonna get. And moderation is kinda inclined to like some of the trolls so it makes it even more frustrating. And admins kinda try to resolve this by making you soft. Lots of people (good quality people) left the forum, including me. Used to be moderator there, it's a hell. And I was for IT. Can't imagine people on politics. There is a flame war going on. Probably 1000+ posts per day. How can you moderate that shit?

It's probably a forum I registered on long ago, such as Sitepoint or Digital Point.
Those are both good and reliable platforms in the context of web development and online marketing. That reminds me of when I registered on similar forum a long time ago. it was packed with mind-blowing threads.

I would have to go with Digital Point now.

I was a part of a larger forum before, but they trimmed their members to only active ones, and those that have posted content, deleting more than 3/4ths of the members.

Big doesn't necessarily mean it's better. As for the mentioned forum trimming users, they cut down nearly 750,000 users that were just spam accounts that were just adding to statistics that don't mean a thing when none of them post.

I've often tossed the idea around to remove the "member count" from the forum statistics because I don't feel you are a member unless you have at least 1 post. The most important statistics, in my mind, are threads and messages, and more importantly at times and depending on the forum type, the ratio between the two.

I agree. It can give the impression that there are many members in a forum, whereas 3/4 of them have not posted since joining or, as you have said, they have only posted once or have dropped in the leave a link. I tend to delete those ones because they are spam, Imo.
It can also hurt newer forums though.

Like if I were to trim here, there would be 132 members. Guests may or may not want to join a forum with such few members.

It works well for those over 10,000 to trim to 2500-5000, if they're still active, but not so much when you're in the hundreds.

Definitely a negative side... would not normally join a small forum but if I am invited by a friend, I will come...
That's the hardest part to overcome for most forum owners.
The Biggest forum i have been a part of was Wrestling Figs. it is still active to this day but not like it once was.
Did the forum move to another service, like Discord or Facebook Groups, or did it just fall off?

Looks like at one time it was a pretty active forum.

I hope that you can fill that void!
