discuss What is The Impact of Colonialism on Indigenous Religions?

We can't deny that colonialism affected indigenous religions. Whenever the explorers arrived to new territories, they brought along with them their culture and forced them upon the natives. This resulted into elimination of many indigenous religions and cultures from among the people. I believe that there is a great need to pay tribute to indigenous spirituality because it’s part of indigenous culture all over the globe. What do you think?

I will give you one example about what colonialism did on indigenous religions.
Africa was a land where hundreds of religious practices existed. Then the Muslim Arabs invaded Africa and made a large part of African continent Muslim. Then the Christian Europeans reached African shore and now Africa is Christian. Africa has lost its religious identity.

Where ever the Europeans reached and colonised the country, local culture and religion was completely wiped out. Only in few countries it managed to survive and one such example is India.

Colonialism may have shifted religion and culture drastically and at a rapid pace, but there's no denying that the influence of Western culture spread through open borders will have the same effect (without death, of course).

Different religions will spread, and as the people of other nations are converted, those around them will be too by word of mouth with missionary support as well as community congregations that will spring up.

The hundreds to thousands of religions will eventually be dwindled down to a handful as religious conglomerates can afford to send missionaries anywhere and everywhere to get people to convert. And, with how friendly they are, and with how people of other nations want to connect with Western culture and society, the impact on belief will shift over time, without colonialism.

Totally agree. Our country has never been colonized. During active monarchical rule, it was forbidden to change religion yet, Christianity and western culture continued to become popular. Now we are a secular republic, but there are discussion in the country that EU paid government huge money to declare secularism in the country. But things like these can never be proved.

In the case of Christianity, they have replaced the indigenous religion with a corrupt version of their own religion.
