What do you think emotional intelligence actually mean? What qualities make an individual emotionally intelligent?

The idea of Emotional Intelligence (EI) was propounded by David Golemann.

He defines it as a person's ability to identify the emotion of himself and those of others and manage it better for a good interpersonal relationship. It has the following components

1. Self awareness
2. Self regulation
3. Empathy
4. Motivation
5. Social skills
