Liverpool Star player Mohamed Salah has been known to generate controversy every Christmas by posting Christmas pictures of himself and his family. He also did it this past Christmas, and it has led to backlash from Muslim football fans who claim that Salah has no business celebrating Christmas because of his religion.

What do you think? Is Salah wrong to celebrate?

As for Mohamed Salah’s Christmas post that has certainly given rise to a debate. While some Muslim fans can consider it to be against their religion others might consider it as something that is insignificant.
Judging from people's reactions on social media, I'd say a lot of people are enraged because of it. But what does it matter? He keeps racking up goals and assists, with Liverpool toping the table by a considerable gap.

I am a Muslim myself, but I don't know who is Muhammad Salah, as I do not watch the game of football. As far as the festival of "christmas" is concerned, we Muslims certainly do not celebrate this particular festival because celebrating "christmas" is against our Islamic religion.

I'm a huge Liverpool and so of course an absolutely huge Mo Salah fan. I don't get the hate he receives for his Christmas posts. He's moved across the world, and is somewhat adopting the culture of his new home. There's no need for the fact that he is celebrating a particular time of the year (probably because most of the people around him are too) to be suggested as a reason for him to be "betraying his religion" or something, which seems to be what some are suggesting on Twitter etc.

The thing is that Salah began posting those pictures every Christmas as a result of the harsh words he got the first time he posted for Christmas, I think 4 years ago. So, he is just doing it now to rile anyone who thinks they can control his life.

I don't see anything wrong in his Christmas messages. Don't forget that he has interacted with many people belonging to different religion in his career. So, he got Christian friends I think.

Those Muslims that are criticizing Salah for celebrating Christmas have failed to realize that Salah is a global icon that has fans across all religions. And there is nothing wrong with him identifying with his Christian fans on Christmas celebrations. Respect to Salah for this gesture.

I see your point. Of course he's got christian fans, so he wants to connect with them by joining in their celebrations.
