It was a good idea in theory, but things went south real quick when "investors" started to take advantage of this game genre. And then the whole NFT world imploded and these games all but died and became less popular.

Even though Metaverse gaming was made popular by blockchain and NFT but the metaverse games existed long before the popularity of NFT games. Roblox is not a new, it has been in existence since 2006. Minecraft is another popular game, it has been in existence since 2011. Fortnite is another game to mention. It was released as a game but now has turned into entire metaverse platform.

I'm one of those who believes that metaverse has the potential to change the way we perceive gaming totally. It's definitely going to enhance our gaming experience and gained will be more Immersive and interactive.
Metaverse gaming is the future of gaming due to the combination of virtual spaces and immersive networks. It offers the opportunity to interact with others, thereby building relationships. However, hardware cost and internet issues may limit access which could stunt its growth. Also, data privacy issues need to be addressed because personal data are required to create the immersive experience.
