What are the strategies you use to encourage water consumption?

For me, there are two strategies
1. Intermittent fasting - the best strategy because we can course through the day only by drinking water, as much as we want.
2. Having a full bottle of water right on my study table, so I am constantly being reminded of drinking water.

Also, how much water do you consume in a day? I consume around 2.5L of water everyday.
 
What are the strategies you use to encourage water consumption?
I was really just careless about water intake before my hospital stay. I would just drink water whenever I was thirsty but sometimes choose coffee over water to fulfill that thirst even though I know it's a diuretic.

Because I never want to experience that pain again, as dehydration could've been an underlying cause, I have been drinking 6-12oz of water every 1-2 hours, and if I do choose to drink coffee, I'll take down 6-8 oz of coffee and 6-8 oz of water after.
 
What made me have to drink more water almost obligatorily is to do regular exercise, that made me go from drinking 1 liter and a half a day to drinking almost 3 liters a day, the body asks me so I don't have to follow great strategies to achieve it.
