Tyrese Gibson is in custody in Atlanta after a contentious child supporthearing where he was ordered to pay upwards of $73,000 to his former partner by a judge to avoid jail time, according to court records.

The actor appeared in Fulton County Superior Court for the latest hearing in his ongoing battle with ex-wife Samantha Lee, with whom he shares a daughter, Soraya. Gibson was ordered to pay $10,690 a month in child support in April 2023, but Judge Kevin Farmer held him in contempt over his nonpayment; Gibson was seen being handcuffed in court and then removed by a bailiff. TMZ firstreported the news.

Unless he's been hiding money in shell companies, it doesn't seem like he can figure his finances out. It looks like what comes in goes straight out.

If this is true, he really couldn't afford the $10,690 in child support without cutting way back. That could only make his financial problem worse by leading to less opportunities. This is because you have to consider some Hollywood costs "networking" to get that next gig—wine and dine to get that new contract signed.

In a court filing around the same time, as reported by TMZ, his income was listed at $105,686 while his expenses were $107,576, making his expenses almost $2,000 more than his income. He also had just $884,658 in the bank, real estate assets valued at $1.7 million, and a legal bill of $133,750.
