No, actually tariffs enacted in the Great Depression expanded it, causing it to go outside the US causing instability in Germany and Japan, for instance.

Trump, not so good at history. Why couldn't that youthful wealth even have gotten him an education?

Tariffs suck but why should we pay more, and other countries not expect to pay less? We have debt, too. We also have matters in the country that we need to take care of.
