A lot of us believe that corruption is directly linked to power. This implies that power gives rise to corruption. The question is- Are we born to be corrupt once we attain any power or position? Are the rulers capable of making decisions that will be in the interest of the entire society rather than their own? Share your thoughts.

In my own opinion, I believe that It might not be totally impossible to attain power and not get corrupted because power often corrupt us. But I also need to point out that it all depends on the person in charge and individual’s ethics as well. For example, if an individual already has traits of selfishness or greed, then power just helps that bad quality to come through and even more. Still, there a lot of people who want to contribute something to the society, and when the power is given in their hands, they try to do something good.

I do not thing corruption is related to power, it is actually related to greed and immorality. People become corrupt because they want more resources, and if they cannot have it they become corrupt. Power does not corrupt us, it is greed that corrupts us., the thought about having more is corrupting us.

If you think power corrupts, then you also need to declare that most corrupt entity in the world is none other than God. He is most powerful and he is most corrupt entity!
Some people become corrupted when they have power but that is not the power that corrupts them, that is their true nature.
That I can say is rather interesting view. In my own view, what struck me is the controversies over the connection between power and corruption. So, corruption is a manifestation of the selfishness of man and not necessarily of his power.

I can agree on this one. Power does not corrupt people, it is the selfish people who use power to take advantage. It is the greed that corrupts people. When you have power, you have two options, one, to use it for the greater good, and two, to use it for yourself. What people choose depends on their true nature.

Power doesn't make someone corrupt. When a system is endemically corrupt, power would just magnify the corruption tendencies of a person. What power do grade school kids that cheat in examinations have?
