I have read testimonies if people recieving permanent healing from mental health issues. Now it is time to discuss the concept of religion and mental health. This has made many to wonder if truly faith be a help make people feel safe and secure. Or do you think it can make people feel unsafe and insecure? I have heard various opinions about this and I would like to know what you think, too.

As for me, I received much emotional support in hard moments based on my faith. From the prayer and meditation experiences, my mind becomes relaxed and I feel that I am right where I need to be. I also know how some religions can take advantage of that as a weapon to condemn people or make them feel guilty. That for sure is damaging to mental health.

There is one thing that can be incredibly useful and that is thankfulness and forgivingness. Such practices may surprisingly lower stress and anxiety while at the same time increases the level of our well-being. One has to note that faith is not universal because something that will help one may not necessarily help the other.

I think it depends on the individual, I see my religion as a way to be better and secure, while other see this same religion as a cooperate scam. It depends on what you believe and how you want it to work for you.

My father was taking medicines for depression for 10 years yet his conditions worse even when he missed medicine for a single day. Someone suggested him to build faith and practice religion, in less than 2 years he game up his medicines and now he has not taken any medicines for depression for more than 15 years.

That is a very inspiring and great story that I have ever heard. It demonstrates the drastic role which faith and religion may play in the life of a person dealing with mental illness. It made your father have something to believe in, something to cling to in giving him the strength to pull through whenever he was down from depression.
