Last week, while cleaning out my shelf, I found my old sketchbook from art school. Immediately, many memories came rushing back. The memories of late nights drawing and the candles I have burnt. I remembered getting lost art each time I pick up my pen.

As I sat flipping over the pages, I felt sad that I had ever abandoned something that had given me great joy. I would love to kick-start my art career back again after many years have gone by. Does anyone else feel this way about a hobby they used to love?

I played piano very obsessively in high school, but after college, I just sort of stopped. I think the weight of my job back in the day and life responsibilities simply took over and I didn't have time for it. I still want to get back into my few melodies on my old piano. I'm thinking of going for lessons to ease myself into it again.

I had a similar experience with writing. I wrote everything from short stories to poetry all through high school, then gradually I stopped as I grew older, taking on what I felt were more pressing things.

Until one day the pain of my breakup brought me back to writing as therapy. Now I simply try to put it into my schedule for at least a few minutes each week because I find it as a way of releasing myself
