This is quite dramatic. I wonder if similar things are going on in another nations at that level.

The same thing is happening here. The prices of foodstuffs generally is very high. So I try to get things in bulk to save money

I'd imagine that is a widely used food product in Japan.

I'd hate to know what this means for Japanese folks who don't have a lot of money.

The supermarkets we go to experienced shrinkflation and inflation.

It took me a while to notice that my 5kg bag of rice turned into 4kg and about the same price.

That seems to be the case here in the States, too.

It gets on my nerves that a product can have less but remain the same price. To me, that's not moral. They also change ingredients to use cheaper stuff which completely changes the taste (makes it worse) and then charges the same price or extra but then whines when no one uses their crappy products anymore.

What do they expect?
