Robert A. Dahl, a political theorist, argues that politics is nothing but the game of power. I totally agree with this point of view. Even though politicians promise to do greater good for the society, they are only there for power and they need power to satisfy their vanity. Even if you see them doing something good, all they are trying is to gain some favor so that they can continue to remain in power for a longer period of time.

The Presidential system in the US is little better because no one can be a president for more than 2 terms but you can see senators and congressmen in the public office for many years. In my home country, the ministerial chair has been in occupancy among three guys for more than 20 years.

I also argue that politics is a power game. Most of the Individuals in the political arena are self-interested and would like to continue making choices with the aim of remaining in the office. And I think there is sometimes in getting into power and making sure they remain there. This can be seen in many countries for instance the leaders hang on to power for many years.

I agree to an extent that politics often revolves around power dynamics, whether it's gaining influence, making decisions, or securing resources. However, I think it's more than just a game of power. Politics also involves negotiation, values, and serving the public good. Power can corrupt, but it can also be used for positive change.
