I recently heard that Australia is willing to give LGBTQ Visas for people from countries in which they are oppressed if they plan to live together with an Australian citizen or a permanent residency card holder in Australia.

This gives a boost to people who are from countries in North East and South Asia where they are either prosecuted or looked upon due to something that is entirely not their fault or choice.

I'm not an Australian citizen so I should have no say in their democratic process. If that's what the People want there, then so be it. If other countries decide to do the same, I'm all for it, for as long as it's what the People of the nation want and desire.

Just curious, do your country permit LGBTQ Visas? And does it formally recognise same sex marriages?

I know so many couples that want to go to US and UK just to marry so that their marriage will be formally recognised in some form or the other because their home country donot do so.

I am an American, and I don't think we permit LGBTQ+ visas, but we do for asylum seekers which would essentially be classified as the same thing as they are seeking to escape prosecution based on their beliefs.

As Australia also accepts asylum seekers, I don't see why they would make an LGBTQ+ visa, unless it were to streamline the process for that specific segment of the world's population, which my opinion on is that it's unfair, given that genocides and other atrocities in countries around the world are happening and they choose to prioritize one group over another when it should be a "wait in line" process for all that seek refuge.

As far as Japan goes, I am a resident, but not a citizen of Japan, so I do not get a say in the process.

What I can say about Japan is that same-sex marriage is not allowed at this time. That said, if you are transgender, you may change your gender, but there's a process involved in which you may have to undergo hormone therapy or even surgery to do so. It wasn't until last year, 2024, that someone was able to change their gender without hormone therapy or surgery. As such, I see same-sex marriage and gender changes being made lawful within the next decade here, if not sooner, after that court ruling in 2024 which allowed a gender change without following the previous requirements set to do so.
