Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track, "Not Like Us," just scored him seven Grammy nominations, including record and song of the year. While Drake has skipped Grammy submissions for years, the Recording Academy gave a big nod to Lamar’s hard-hitting track amid the duo's heated feud.
The nominations cap a turbulent year between the two former collaborators. Their rivalry reignited with Lamar’s "Like That" guest verse in March, followed by multiple diss tracks from both sides. "Not Like Us" leads his five nominations for the track alone, solidifying Lamar’s grip on the rap category.
This year also saw Lamar announced as the 2025 Super Bowl halftime headliner in New Orleans, a move that stirred mixed feelings from Drake’s mentor, NOLA native Lil Wayne. Drake himself escalated the feud with full diss tracks, “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” calling out Lamar for alleged abuse. Lamar shot back with "Euphoria" and later, the bombshell "Meet the Grahams," accusing Drake of hiding a second child and dealing with addiction.
Drake has long criticized the Grammys as out of touch, previously pulling his music from consideration after The Weeknd's infamous snub. However, diss tracks getting Grammy love isn’t new; Drake’s own "Back to Back" diss was nominated in 2016, and LL Cool J’s "Mama Said Knock You Out" famously won in 1991.
With Lamar's favored Grammy status, it’s no surprise he’s leading the rap nominations this year, adding another layer of tension in the long-running Lamar-Drake saga.
