discuss Has anyone ever done a podcast?

I've started listening to these things called podcasts. It's where people talk to themselves and sometimes others. I've been listening to them sometimes in the car. I like ones about history. I wish I studied history more at school.

My son said I should do a podcast about being a grumpy old gamer. He said it would be fun and I have to agree the idea is intriguing. I am grumpy. I am old. I am a gamer. But how does it work? Has anyone ever done a podcast before?

I can't say I have ever done a podcast myself but I have listened to podcasts a few times and some of them can be very entertaining and even interesting.

I am someone that is into podcasts from content creators and those who play video games. I had no clue that there was history podcasts though and I am very interested in history, took it in school due to how much I loved learning history.

I listen to some celebrities' podcasts where we get the gists and gossip about life and all of that. I have not attended a podcast myself either, but I have some shows that I listen to their podcast, and just like you said, they are always entertaining.

The only podcasts I have ever done is by writing it and then feeding it to an AI tool to creator audio file. I have published on substacks. I want to get into podcasting but I am afraid I am not a very good talker and I also do not have proper recording devices.

There are so many topics to pick from in podcasts. It could be from entertainment, education or just a casual kind of conversation. I also want to start my own podcast but I haven't taken any time to plunge into it yet. Still waiting for the right tools to use.

I bet many people have a goal of starting one but then never get around to it. Do you know anyone who has actually started one? Maybe then could help you get moving on your plans.

The only videos I have made are video recorded slideshows of math stuff. i wouldn't want a podcast because I don't like showing my face online.

A friend of mine who promotes my brand a lot has actually started one, though he finds himself not having as much time to keep making new episodes.

If you want it to go anywhere, you'll have to be consistent like with anything.

You could also use a tool to change your voice or face, but I totally get where you’re coming from.

I’m not into creating podcasts either. I’d rather stick to what I know best and that’s
creating posts on forums & such, marketing & doing seo.
A lot of people have their own skills and experiences, which is a great thing. Some things aren’t meant for everyone.

So don’t feel too bad on yourself bud!

When I was a kid in the 1980s, I had a fake radio station of sorts, lol. I would record a tape with my voice and radio music in the background (or maybe it was from another tape, I can't remember). Anyway, it sounded like a real radio station.

Note: This wasn't expensive equipment, just some cheap radio/tape recorder thing that was common in those days.

Nobody likes the sound of their own voice. That's a hurdle I guess podcasters need to get over.
