I have a very strict policy of separating my friends and my family.

I generally donot let my partner hangout with my friends and vice versa too. Its because of two reasons:

1. The opposite gender never fully comprehends how same gender people interact with each other.
2. I see my friends as a support mechanisms. So, when something is worng with my family (or my friends) I can approach vicecersa.

Cant have all my eggs in one basket.

What are your policies?

I do not see anything wrong in the relationship between my friends and my family. My partner developed bonds with several people from my family and that has even strengthen the bond between us more.
I was talking about your partner and your friend, perse.

How are you managing the relationships between your partner and your friends?

Friends are your public life and family is your private life. Therefore, I believe you need to keep these two things at different places. But I also think that having a friendly gathering of friends and family once in a while can also be good.
Totally agreeing with this <3
