discuss FIFA Club World Cup 2025

A thread for live match analysis, player performances, scores, highlights, fan predictions, and general sports discussions across all sports.
I know a lot of clubs are really upset with the formatting and timing of this new competition, and I can't say that I don't blame them. There doesn't seem to be an awful lot of consideration for the players, I get that they are highly paid, but they are being asked to perform more than ever and at a higher intensity level than ever before, and it's sad to see so many players missing significant periods of time with serious injuries that I believe is directly a result of the increased workload.

As much as I like to see Man City suffer as a Liverpool fan, Rodri is undoubtedly the best midfielder in the world and the amount of games he's played over the last three or four years is absolutely insane. No wonder he's now out for the rest of the season with a serious injury, and surprise surprise, Manchester City have gone to toilet.

Personally, I still don't understand why Inter Miami made it to this tournament because they don't deserve to be in it if not for the Fifa President Infantino.

As far as I'm aware, the allocations to the tournament were made by each constituent footballing governing organisation. For example, UEFA decided the qualification criteria for the European teams that will be entering the competition, so I'm assuming the US football governing authorities got to make the decision on the qualification means for teams in the US.
