discuss Do you make use of the same password?

A thread covering the latest news on trends, groundbreaking technologies, and digital innovations reshaping the tech landscape.
I do it on less secure sites. About 2 months ago, I was informed (by Google Chrome) that the password used was identified in a breach. I've since changed the passwords, but all to the same again. It just makes it easier to get in for me and isn't that big of a deal if they are compromised.

Before, I used to repeat the same password across many online accounts before learning about security risks. Now, I use a password management solution which allows me to use different powerful individual passwords for all my platform accounts.

I had the same experience last weekend when I was checking my Gmail account security. I saw the notification my password was found be used in multiple websites. I had to change it immediately.

Yeah, for email, this is probably best.

But for sites that don't have any associated billing, etc., or are only an account to view content, I don't mind keeping the same password, once changed, of course.

I used to use the same password 10 years ago, but I no longer do.

Now, I make sure all my passwords are different, unique and secured.

I believe that you're making use of a password manager in order to keep track and record of all your different unique passwords? I'm not sure if it's possible to remember all of them off heart.

I used to be really lax on my internet security and use the same password for almost everything. Nowadays, I use strong, custom passwords for important things (like financial stuff and my emails) and then use randomly generated passwords stored in the browser (Chrome) for mostly everything else. Might not be the most secure of options, but for day-to-day browsing and considering I generally know how to keep my PC safe, it works for me.

Yes, of course lol. I can only remember some of my passwords, but not all of them.😅
