I remember having the battery operated fancy Chineese mic at home. It was simple, didnot need an amplifier and even had light on it and it came in various fancy colors including the pink and gold one which is the most iconic.
At our household, it was used for almost all functions, giving children a chance to sing in front of the family for gatherings and parties. I once used it very effectively to practice for the elocution competition happening in our local town hall.
