In today's digital world, it has become so important to develop hobbies in our children. As a counselor, I keep meeting parents, children and youth. A major concern crippling them is addiction to gadgets, parents struggling to control screen time and social media addiction. These addictions are impacting overall health and social life of people in a very negative way.
One solution to this which is very effective is to develop hobbies in children from young age. And try to do that in areas out of digital world, be it sports or art and craft, music, dance etc. Expose your children at young age to these in age appropriate way, get involved with them and see their interest. Let them follow their interest and develop it in engaging hobbies. This will help in long way to fight addictions, have a good social life and sound mental and emotional health.

I understand that one should worry at a certain point and try to intervene but there are things that are inevitable, for example that they control the amount of time they can use the cell phone or whatever, it does not mean that as teenagers or adults they are not going to do it so it is a bit meaningless since it depends on each person who uses the cell phone so much or other issues, adults spend their time watching hours and hours of TV and no one judges them, right?
