Deadpool & Wolverine just climbed another rung in the U.S. box office, surpassing Barbie to claim the No. 12 spot among the highest-grossing domestic films ever (unadjusted for inflation). Marvel’s R-rated hit earned $679,000 this weekend, bringing its U.S. total to $636.3 million. Barbie now sits just behind it with $636.2 million.
Globally, though, Barbie still leads. The Greta Gerwig-directed film holds a worldwide gross of $1.446 billion, making it the 15th top-grossing movie of all time. Meanwhile, Deadpool & Wolverine has made $1.336 billion worldwide, taking the crown as the highest-grossing R-rated film ever.
The Deadpool threequel has broken several records since its release, including the biggest R-rated opening weekend with $211 million. It’s now the seventh-highest-grossing film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe globally, and fifth domestically among 31 MCU releases. It’s also the second-biggest film of 2024, trailing only Inside Out 2, which has grossed $652.9 million domestically and $1.694 billion globally.
The extended theater run helped push Deadpool & Wolverine past Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi, landing it a spot in the all-time top 20 domestically. With just weeks left in theaters, it remains a box office juggernaut.
