We need to settle the debate on which is the greatest between Boxing and MMA. In my opinion, I think boxing takes the lead because of its precision and high-end fitness. It's a sport that requires skill, strategy and endurance. Iron Mike Tyson showed us that boxing needs top-of-the-line skills to excel.

What's your pick?

The mix of the martial arts makes MMA unique. Those guys also have some kind of physical fitness. It demands versatility, strength, and agility. I like to watch fighters like Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey. Their performances are top notch.

I’m a fan of both and I can't choose one over the other. I appreciate the fighters because they are putting up a great job to keep us entertained. Boxing has iconic bouts like Tyson-Holyfield, likewise MMA has got epic clashes like Silva-Weidman as well. I appreciate both disciplines a lot.

MMA is more dangerous than boxing in my opinion. This is because everything you can do in boxing can he done in MMA but you can't do half of what is allowed in MMA in boxing. Even though there's more money in boxing, I believe that should have been better in MMA.

Boxing is a game of discipline, MMA is undisciplined game. I have watched MMA and I have see how dangerous it can be sometimes. The fight you see has a lot of rage and I don't like that

I believe that boxing is by far more dangerous than MMA. The reason is 12 rounds of repeated head punishment, or the ultimate goal for the victor if they can't take their opponent's breath away too easily with the ribs.

A fighter in boxing could get hit in the head, fall to the ropes or even mat, and still have 10 seconds to recover before a KO is called. However, they could still be somewhat concuss, but not showing immediate signs, and continue on to try and get that 1 minute recovery before the next round or before another jab to the head.

Compare that to MMA with a solid knock to the skull that drops a fighter or makes them wobbly in their stance. The ref usually runs in and protects them from a ground attack, calling it then and there, a TKO.

I'm not saying that they can't sustain some pretty serious injuries in MMA, but the match is called when it crosses territory of possible life and death, which I believe only boxing has seen — multiple times — over regulated MMA.

Also the 5 minute rounds in MMA lets fighters take it to the ground or the cage to recover before getting back to pounding or kicking, if they can and aren't just running the clock to go to the scorecard decision.

I can understand the sentiment about boxing have to go for a long stretch 12 rounds before it's concluded unless there was a KO before then. It's obviously the reason why I believe there's more money compensation for boxers.

But I'm looking at it from the perspective of how someone can be hurt pretty bad when it comes to boxing and MMA. In boxing, it's only with the fist. If you protect yourself well enough and fight smart like Floy Mayweather did, you're most likely going to okay. Bringing MMA into mix, you're exposed to being punch in face, elbowed, kicked, choked, arm twisted, calf twisted and all manner of ways to inflict pains is allowed. It surely goes over boxing by my assessment.

MMA may come off as more violent than boxing but boxing has had far more deaths in it's existence over MMA in general.

I agree that one is more likely to sustain injuries from MMA than boxing. But the injuries are not as serious as those sustained from boxing. Boxing is more dangerous than MMA. Professional boxing can cause brain damage in the long run owing to heavy punches to the head. There is higher chance of getting more serious injuries from boxing than from MMA.

I prefer MMA, the knockouts are more brutal. However, I like that boxing pays their fighters accordingly. The UFC does not.
You're right about the UFC not paying their fighters very well. It's why some of their fighters have moved to PFL. Francis Ngannou is the latest ex UFC fighter who moved to PFL. He's now the current heavyweight champion in PFL.

The only big name that moved to PFL from the UFC was Francis, and while I agree that the UFC is overpaying fighters. I think the PFL messed up with the Francis Ngannou contract and overpaid him by millions, because they didn't get the expected pay per view sales from his last fight. They might go bankrupt because of it.

We can't possibly match the two sports simply because it involves fighting. Boxing requires you to be able to coordinate your eyes, hands and footwork, while MMA just need grappling. As an MMA fighter, you should be able to grip your opponent and strike quickly. You can see the digfference.

I believe that MMA is much more harsh than boxing because it's always bloody and It consists of different styles of martial arts. It lets you use different techniques at different time.

That's also why there's not as many rounds in MMA. A lot more knockouts, less padding on the gloves.
