Lyrics are the best method to learn songs, because music only you may say half of words wrong.

I suppose it’s a mix of both. The rhythm can make me listen to the song, but the lyrics are the reason I eventually find myself listening to it on the regular. This is why if the lyrics of the song speaks to me in some manner, then I appreciate the music even more. But if the beat is lacking, one cannot even listen to the song regardless of how well written the lyrics might be.

Both are important, lyrics are just words if there is no beat in it. The beat can make a sense but lyrics without beat does not make sense.

Song is like a good meal. Just one ingredient alone cannot make it palatable, it has to be a mix of many ingredients. For me, lyrics and beats are two very crucial ingredients, so I cant assign importance weight to one over the other.
