Plot: Derek Vineyard is paroled after serving 3 years in prison for killing two African-American men. Through his brother, Danny Vineyard's narration, we learn that before going to prison, Derek was a skinhead and the leader of a violent white supremacist gang that committed acts of racial crime throughout L.A. and his actions greatly influenced Danny. Reformed and fresh out of prison, Derek severs contact with the gang and becomes determined to keep Danny from going down the same violent path as he did.

American History X is a film that tells us about the consequences of hate and racism. The main character is a young man, Derek, and through the he gets hatred ideas from his dad. Nevertheless, as a young man he learns that such thoughts are wrong and oppressive for everybody. So, he begins to understand that people of all the colors are the same. It's same blood that flows in people all over the world.

Of all the scenes in the movie, one of the most emotionally arresting is where the white protagonist, Derek, make friends with a black man. They learned that people with different personality type and different color of skin can be friends and look after each other. The movie also passes a word of advice to the effect that one should not judge people based on how they look
